Terms of Use

PDF Toolbox is free to use, provided as-is, and runs in your browser. By using the site you accept the terms below. The essentials: you are responsible for your own documents and for using them lawfully; keep your originals, because the tools work on copies in your browser; and nothing on this site is legal, tax, or professional advice.

1. The service

PDF Toolbox provides free tools and guides for working with PDF and related file formats. The live tools run entirely in your web browser: they read the file you select, transform a copy of it in your device's memory, and offer the result as a download. Nothing is uploaded to us. Guide pages provide general information about tasks that browsers cannot perform reliably. We may add, change, or remove tools and pages at any time without notice.

2. No warranty; service provided “as is”

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. PDF is a complex format and browsers vary; we do not warrant that any tool will process any particular file correctly, that output will be free of defects, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Test the output before you rely on it.

3. Your documents and your responsibilities

You keep all rights to the files you process; because they never leave your device, we could not claim any interest in them even if we wanted to. In return, you are solely responsible for:

4. Specific tools — know what they are and are not

5. Intellectual property

The site's own content — its text, page designs, and graphics — belongs to PDF Toolbox and may not be copied or republished wholesale without permission; linking to any page is always welcome. The underlying open-source libraries the tools use remain under their respective licenses. “PDF Toolbox” is an independent project; product names mentioned on the site (such as Word, Excel, or Acrobat) are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify formats and compatibility, not to suggest affiliation or endorsement.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site's availability, misrepresent the site or its output as certified or endorsed by anyone, or repackage the service in a way that misleads users about where their files are processed. That last point matters to us: the site's core promise is local processing, and passing it off otherwise harms everyone who relies on that promise.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PDF Toolbox and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, business, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the service — including damage resulting from defective output, lost files, or reliance on informational content. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the service, which is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for intent or gross negligence where applicable law so provides.

8. Third-party links

Guide pages sometimes link to third-party software or websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Affiliate links, where present, are marked and are currently inactive placeholders.

9. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, with the “Last updated” date above adjusted accordingly. If a change is significant, we will say so plainly here. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
